Our Philosophy

At Special World Family Day Care, we believe in providing children and families with care and education in the most ethical, culturally aware, need-sensitive, relevant, and individualistic manner possible. In line with this belief, we aim at delivering high quality education and care that is specific and responsive to every child and family’s needs.

Our goal is to provide children with individually tailored care in a warm, nurturing, secure and safe environment, where they are respected and supported to achieve their full potential. Our educators are guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Children (UNCRC) to ensure each child’s rights are safeguarded.

We believe that when children are given a healthy, play-encouraging, mind-stimulating and are in a conducive learning environment where they can engage in play-based learning; it encourages their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development and also builds self-esteem and confidence, helping them develop holistically.

Families play an integral role in their children’s education and learning. Therefore, we believe that collaborative partnerships with families, based on mutual respect, open communication, decision-making and involvement in the curriculum planning will support their children’s learning and wellbeing, in a more culturally relevant manner.

Children find their sense of belonging and connection through the community. We believe that creating a sense of community will have a significant impact on children and families. As children grow and develop, connecting to the world around them aids in their understanding of the shared and positive behaviours that will enable them to have meaningful relationships for life.
Our educators scaffold children’s learning by linking one level of learning to the next one, further up the skill ladder. Our aim is for our educators to work collaboratively and cooperatively, sharing ideas and knowledge while also motivating, and inspiring each other to maximise their creative and innovative potential in order to achieve the desired learning and development outcomes for children and families.

Our curriculum planning is reflected and supported by the ‘Early Years Learning Framework for Australia’, ‘The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework’ and ‘My Time Our Place Framework For School Age Children’. These frameworks are used to guide our educators’ decisions in interpreting and assessing children’s learning and development.

The aim of our curriculum planning is to offer indoor and outdoor programs that support and extend children’s learning by teaching them to be environmentally responsible, accept different cultures and support their values and beliefs which will ultimately contribute to their sense of self, belonging and their future success.

We believe that through providing ongoing learning and professional development for all staff and educators, we will be able to continuously improve the effectiveness of our curriculum planning.

At Special World FDC, all strategies, policies and procedures operate around guiding and supporting children, families, communities and educators. Our service values are Respect, Trust, Honesty, Responsibility and Accountability.
