Environment & Education Program

Special world Family Day Care offers quality care, affordable & flexible to suit your requirements, and inclusive of your individual needs. Our trained and qualified educators look after children from birth to 12 years of age, providing care in a safe & secure, hygienic & healthy, interesting and stimulating environment.

Family Day Care caters to the holistic wellbeing of children. So nurturing children with attention and care, as well as supporting cognitive and physical development through learning, play, hands-on activities and building confidence & communication skills via social engagement with peers allows children the opportunity to grow independent.

Special World Family Day care is governed by a set of National Standards administered by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority.
Our service curriculum is based on My Time Our Place, The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework which we consider to be embedded in our practice.

The five learning outcomes we aim at achieving through our learning program are:

Children have a strong sense of identity

Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

Children are confident and involved learners

Children are effective communicators

Incursions & Excursions

Children are given the opportunity to participate in incursions and excursions where they have the chance to explore, learn about and become part of their wider community, as these relationships are essential to growth. Therefore, our educators take children to community facilities such as local parks and libraries to play, engage, explore, read, and observe sights and sounds of their community and neighbourhood.

Special World recognises children’s rights to play and be active participants in the community, because we want to support all children to be:

Competent, capable, knowledgeable and develop a sense of agency and autonomy (Being)

Have a right to play, explore and participate (Belong)

Empowered and supported through life challenges (Becoming)

Parent Involvement

We acknowledge the importance of the family as the first and most significant influence in a child’s life, and weave and incorporate their viewpoints, culturally diverse needs, individual learning modalities and children’ s own strengths in our Program planning to serve the best educational and recreational experience to the child.

We also respect and value the experience, skills, endeavours, and commitment of our professional early childhood educators. We believe and work around the values proclaimed in the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child. We are guided by the ACECQA & National Quality Framework. Our integrity is navigated by The Early Childhood Code of Ethics in its entirety. We abide by the Education & Care Services National Regulations 2011 and Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010.

The initial orientation & interview gives the educator and the parent the chance to share viewpoints, preferences, choices, and children’s needs and discuss the details of the specific care required. The parents also get the chance to examine and observe the family day care environment.

The collaborative relationships and active consultations between the service and families are fundamental to achieving quality outcomes for the child/children.
Respectful Communication is the key to building positive relationships with families. This can be achieved through the educator’s daily conversations with families, exchanging written messages in the communication book, via phone, SMS, WhatsApp, emails, newsletters, and the educator’s availability to families if they have a concern about their child.

We ask parents to promptly inform the educator about any allergies, sensitivities, and triggers that the child might have, or any pronounced medical requirements, any particular support need. During the interview parents will get a chance to determine whether the educator is suited to their family’s needs and the educator will assess whether she can meet and manage and accommodate this child’s care requirements satisfactorily and adequately.

We recognise the relevance of the child’s family, culture, customs, traditions, and beliefs around child rearing practices, and invite them to give their input to assist us in the planning and programming specifically for their child.

Parents are given the opportunity to contribute to their child’s learning within the program planning and the daily routines to support the child cultural identity, upbringing styles, eat, sleep, and play routines to create harmonized care plans in the best interests of the child.

Parents may ask the educator any relevant questions about the day-care like:

What activities are provided?

What are the daily routines?

How is children’s behaviour regulated & managed?

Where will the child play, rest & sleep?

What are the educator’s fees, and Terms & conditions of payment?

Does the educator have a minimum requirement of booked hours?
